Banana Nut Bread

1/3 C. shortening (Crisco)
1/2 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 - 3/4 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1//2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. mashed ripe banana
1/2 C. chopped walnuts

Cream together shortening & sugar; add eggs & beat well.  Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with banana, blending well after each addition.  Stir in nuts.  Pour into well-greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.  Bake in moderate oven (350) 45 to 50 minutes or till done. Remove from pan; cool on rack.  Wrap and store overnight.
