Dear Rizal...
Glenn Destacamento To Dr. Jose Rizal, I regret to inform you we failed. My predecessors, my comrades and me will soon give up this country you once adored. Worry not for this will be given to a 'strong' nation-- America. Yes, the country who bestowed upon you the grandest title of all-- Pambansang Bayani ng Pilipinas. (I bet Marcelo would really envy you more upon hearing this like most of your colleagues would.) They said they will take care of our resources and hoprfully our people. They said they would bring the Philippines, your country, back to the world map. Aren't you glad? It's happening now Jose. The essay that you wrote about the fate of this land a century ago is now taking shape. You wanted this, don't you? Soon we will be Indio-Americans or Filipino Americans (never really changed a thing). One out of five Filipinos would rather leave this country whether or not they had the financial capabilities or not. Most educated (just as you want us to be). You should be proud rich countries like Pinoys better than any other race. But I wonder why are they treated still as slaves. I thought education is the tool to a progressive nation? The Neo- Katipuneros were never crazier. They are now said to be involving civilians in revolutionary efforts to 'free' this land. They are stupid, as always. Didn't it come to them that maybe people do not want to be freed? And that they are happy just as they are now? I also do not understand why the gang of Joma still wants peace talks with the government when in the first place they have very different opinions about running this country. It will only get worse. Were you wrong? About all the things you said? Why did you have to die so early never had the chance to explain to us your ambiguous dream you had for this nation? Why did you abandoned us Jose? Was it you who really failed. |
