During all this years of motorsport, Nelson Piquet, had a chance to create good friendships, which in F1 never was easy due to big rivality on track, it started to get worst in the begining of the 80's with the advertising interests and the increase of the profissionalism. However, Nelson Piquet always had a very good relation with drivers such as Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ingo Hoffman, Eddie Cheever, Riccardo Patrese, Raul Boesel, Roberto Moreno, Jean Alesi and many others. Those friendships last till nowadays, even his storm days in Williams due to Nigel Mansell fights that splited the team, the truth is that the Three Time World Champion by the time of the Brazilian GP's always spent some hours in the british based team pits to talk with Patrick Head (Mansell's engineer in 86 and 87) and Frank Williams.

Nelson Piquet after retiring from F1 turned his atentions to the development of the brazilian motorsport and share his knowledge with great talents, such as his son Nelsinho and brazilian drivers helping them to keep their carreers alive. It's well known the care of Piquet for Rubens Barrichello, Christian Fittipaldi, Bruno Junqueira, Mario Habberfeld, Felipe Giaffone and so many others.
