Jack 'Sparrow' was born in Whitechapel to a prostitute named Angelique, and was cursed
with the given name Jonathan Whitwhickey. Everyone who knew him called him Jack and took
pity on him because his mother died in childbirth. Jack was taken care of by some of his mother's
associates, who were also prostitutes.
Jack, being quite the mischief-maker, found himself fleeing London in his late teens trying to
avoid charges pertaining to arson, looting, and smuggling, among other things. Low on money and
common sense, Jack made his way to the tip of Northern France, swimming some of the journey!
After the duration of several months Jack became known as the town quarter horse (everyone's had
a ride).
One night, still lacking money and common sense, Jack found himself in the midst of a
seven wench tavern fight. Grasping and clenching for some booty (of both kinds), Jack got away
with a mystical compass and some other manners of swag. It was a few days later that Jack
overheard some local shop keeps discussing his plundering, when one remarked, "he swept in and
out unnoticed as a wee sparrow". Liking this new nickname Jack dropped his embarrassing last
name, to gain a more rugged image.
After a lot of pondering Jack assembled himself up a crew and commandeered himself a ship, hoping to
achieve his dream of being world know and the most feared pirate to sail the seven seas. His crew
of slovenly buccaneers took to Jack quickly, except for his first mate, Barbossa, who secretly wanted
to gain control of Jack's vessel, the Black Pearl, for himself... All he needed was the right moment.
One night, while Jack's crew was celebrating their successful looting of he south port of the East India
Trading Company, Jack was confronted by a portly old sailor. The drunken sailor began to regale Jack with
his sea tales, the most ominous of those of the dreaded Isla de la Muerta. Thinking the old man was
simply babbling Jack tried to dismiss him, when suddenly the sailor pointed to Jack's compass and
said, "There be the key to finding the Island of the Dead, an' the wond'rous spoils she holds.
"A true Rogue of the High Seas, Cap'n Jack is infamous throughout the Caribbean.
Some say he ain't worth spittin on and some say he's the best pirate who ever
sailed the high seas. So mind yerself, cross the good Cap'n an you'll find fer yerself
that he don't play fair."
