Padres HHASL's Best in 2006
Anaheim, CA - It turned out to be a
very interesting series indeed. In a playoffs where so
many of the series had to be decided in the final game, it was
only fitting that the World Series keep up with the trend as it
went to the maximum 7 games, and it was the team that had the
didn't have the home field disadvantage that prevailed as every
game was won the road team.
The San Diego Padres captured their first ever HHASL World
Series title yesterday after disposing of the Anaheim Angels in
the seventh and deciding game by a score of 8-3.

majors, also had a surge on offense
with Harry Clapinski and Garland Greene leading the way. "There's
nothing much else you can say about them (the pitching), they keep
us in so many games this year," said clean up hitter Greene "It was
awesome that we were able to help out in this series."
The Padres went into Anaheim down 3-2 in the series but were still
able to prevail thanks to a Garland Greene gram slam and a great
pitching performance by Spider Benson in game 6 to tie the series at
3. Game 7 had the Padre hitters score all the runs they needed in
first inning. The final out was recorded as Lou Butler got Tex
Farrell to ground out to shortstop Ernie Sowders.
San Diego joins elite company with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the
Seattle Mariners as being the only teams to win the World Series.
