Pirates Cove opens Children's Water Park
The management of Pirates Cove in Borongan, Eastern Samar said their recent opening of a Childrens Water Park is attracting many children and their parents who troop to this premier beach and surf resort during weekends and even during regular days to take a dip and have real fun.
Pete Haynes, Pirates Cove owner, said the park has six squirting water slides, a tube slide, an air walkway, and lots of bumper tires for kids to slide into and swing. It also has a jacuzzi-style pool with water overflowing to a slide to the main pool. An upcoming upgrade would be the tiling of the floor of the big pool surrounding the water park and the provision of additional amenities for its customers.
Haynes said that there is a continuing development of the resort ever since they opened it to the public in 1992. Almost all the cottages are now made of permanent materials and they offer amenities including international cuisine for visitors who checks in for three or more days. But management must be informed of the guests food preference in advance, Haynes adds.
In its present state the whole place has a refreshing look with tiled art works all over the place with a variety of marine motif. The works of art are in walkways and in walls, Their original swimming pool also has a big logo of Pirates Cove at the bottom of the pool, a splendid work of art in itself created by Pete himself. But customers who use their pools are reminded to be in proper swimming attire, otherwise theyll have to pay a users fee.
Haynes is confident that he can compete in terms of facilities with the resorts being developed in Calicoan Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, around 100 kms. south of Borongan. The island is being groomed by tourism officials to be another Boracay.
For picnickers, you dont have to pay for your splash at the pools; just pay your cottage rent which ranges from P300 to P500 for ordinary cottages. For night swimmers, rates increase a bit when night falls as maintenance cost, particularly on electricity, also rises during evenings.
Pete confides that he feels contentment seeing people enjoying the facilities of Pirates Cove. He considers this as an additional return of investment for his efforts and the greenbacks he continues to pour in for the development of the place - and the hometown of his beloved Rhodora, Borongan.
