Crisco Pie Crust
2 cups self-rising flour (sifted)
¾ cup Crisco (chilled)
Water (iced)

 

 


Applesauce Filling
2 cups fresh applesauce
¾ cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp allspice

 

Crust

Sift flour in large bowl.

Work in Crisco until mixture is the size of a pea.

Dough will be stiff, knead until smooth.

Pinch into balls (baseball size), and chill for 2 hours.

 

Filling

Peel, core, slice and cook 6 tart apples.

Stir until smooth.

Add sugar and spices.

Cool.

 

Pies

Roll one ball of dough on floured surface until 6" round.

Put ¼ cup applesauce on one side of circle.

Brush outer edges with water.

Turn side (opposite applesauce) over to make half circle.

Press outer edges together with fingertips to seal.

Heat electric fry pan to 350.

Add 1 Tablespoon Crisco and 1 Tablespoon margarine to pan.

When melted, place pie in oil to fry (may do three at a time).

Cook 5-7 min. on first side (until brown).

Carefully turn to other side and cook until brown.
