Puerto Rican Rice & Beans with Bacon

2 cups Carolina long grain white rice

Rice Prepare according to the directions for whichever brand you choose.
Bean Mixture Slice and dice pepper and onion. Simmer bacon grease in a large pot. Add green pepper and sauté for a few minutes. Then add onions and sauté together. Add about 1/4 of the tomato sauce and raise the heat. Add beans and the rest of the tomato sauce. Fill empty sauce can with water and add to pot. Raise heat to high. To taste, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Adobo. Bring mixture to a boil and add the crumbled bacon. Cover and let simmer over low heat for at least 30 minutes (preferably longer) Keep tasting and add Adobo and salt to taste. Serve over rice.
