Having red drinks is a regular occurrence in my household any time my family is together. The tradition started many years before any of the children were born, when it was just the adults. It now includes the children of the family, and we have had red drinks ever since I can remember.

We usually have the red drinks during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we have also had them during the summer and at other big events. It begins after dinner and after the kitchen has been cleaned. One of the sisters pulls out the blender and ingredients, and begins the process of making red drinks.

The adult drinks are made first and are passed around to the women at the table, who are talking and looking a sales papers for shopping the next day. There are also sometimes kids at the table looking for Christmas ideas for their list. The adtules then make the kids' drinks. They call us from our video games or our football game outside to enjoy the red drinks.

Now that the children have grown up, the red drinks are mostly enjoyed by the women of the family. I feel special because I am the only one that is under 21, so they make a special batch just for me.

When I think of red drinks, I think of family togetherness. Every time we have them, we are sitting around a table enjoying each other's company. Not many other people can say that they have this type of relationship. I love spending time with my family, and red drinks are a plus to spending time with family.

The tradition of red drinks has now passed down to me and my sister. My sister has made them many times over the summer. She has definitely perfected the red drink. Now I have a blender in my dorm room so I can make red drinks for myself anytime I want. Every time that I fix a red drink I will think of my family and the times I spent with them drinking red drinks. I will hopefully pass on the tradition on to my children, and it will continue down the line.
