Chicken Dip
Caroline T. Faithful
About five years ago, my grandparents reached a milestone in their lives. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Reaching this milestone called for a major celebration. My dad and his two brothers decided to give them a surprise party. The party was going to be held at my aunt and uncle's home just down the road. Since the party was held at my aunt's house, she was forced to cook.
My Aunt Lesley is married to my dad's youngest brother. She has never enjoyed cooking, so we always tease her when she actually does cook. She does not mind cooking recipes that are simple, so she began her search of something simple and easy to cook for the party.
After looking through many magazines, she finally found a recipe she would try: chicken dip. It is simple and easy because it only has four ingredients and only takes about twenty minutes to cook. She was a little nervous about trying a new recipe, wondering if everyone would like it or not.
When I arrived at the party, my aunt immediately told me about the dip and wanted me to try it. She knew that, if I liked it, everyone else would since I am so picky. I tried the dip, and it was really good. As the night went on, my family and I began to fall in love with this dip. I decided after eating chicken dip at the party that it is my new favorite food.
The chicken dip was such a hit at the anniversary party that now, every time we have a family gathering, my aunt always makes it. She has become, I guess you can say, famous within our family for her dip. The best part about this dip is that it is something that I can actually make as well.
