Pirate Palate - Fruit Dip - Brooklyn Bagwell

Pirate PalateFruit Dip

Brooklyn Bagwell

My favorite time of the year would have to be summertime! So many great things happen during the summer, like my birthday, the hot weather, the lake, and of course the fresh fruit.

About seven years ago, four of us (my mom and I, and my mom's friend Suzy and her daughter Laura) drove out to my grandfather's lake house on the last day of school. On the way, we stopped at a fruit stand. After stocking up on some fresh strawberries, peaches, and bananas, we headed out to the lake for a fun day in the sun.

When we got to the lake, Suzy pulled out the fruit dip that was in the cooler. After my mom and I tasted the dip we immediately had to know the recipe. It was so good!

My mom was very happy because it was very simple: only two ingredients. She's never been a big cook. We spent the whole day snacking on the fruit and dip. It was a great summer snack.

Ever since that day, my mom has made this fruit dip for every occasion. It makes such a pretty centerpiece with an arrangement of fruit. We have found that the dip is best with strawberries and peaches. I usually drown the piece of fruit with the dip. It's always best that way. The dip is so creamy and perfect before any meal.

My friends always love to come to my house during the summertime because they know my mom will always make the fruit dip. Sometimes she doubles the recipe because the dip is usually gone fast!
