My family has never really been big into cooking. In fact, besides holidays, my family only cooks about once or twice a week. We are all so busy and always running around that we never really have the time to cook. I usually did most of the cooking, but now that I am at college, there is no one to really cook a decent meal.
We always look forward to the holidays to give us a reason to cook. We always have all of our relatives over to our house to celebrate the holidays. The biggest holidays for us are Thanksgiving and Christmas. My grandparents used to always fly up from Orlando, Florida, to spend the holidays with us at our house. My grandpa was always the one that did most of the cooking. Though he recently passed away, we try our best to cook like he did.
My grandpa was always in charge of the turkey and the stuffing. He made the best stuffing and always cooked the turkey just right. Since he passed, my dad has now taken charge in making the turkey and stuffing. My grandma is in charge of the deviled eggs and the rolls. She always seems to burn the rolls a little bit, but her deviled eggs are out of this world. She always makes them so perfectly. My mom and I always take care of everything else, like the sides, which are easy to prepare.
Everyone in the family, including cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and family friends, always come over on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve. We always put the deviled eggs out, along with other appetizers, while everybody is impatiently awaiting the delicious meal that takes way too long to cook. The deviled eggs are always the first to go, and definitely the favorite in my family. As soon as they are placed on the table, it's only a matter of minutes before all of the eggs are gone. My grandma is well known throughout my family for her delicious deviled eggs, and hopefully her deviled egg recipe can be passed down throughout the family.
