Finally a Legend
BACK TO STORIES PAGE
-29th December 2002
after many months of aimless wandering around the ocean with only the occasional rape or looting to break up the monotony of being a pirate it occured to macgaffery

"i need a quest."

He spent the better portion of that day trying to think of one to no avail. He gathered the men together on the cribbage deck to try to pool his resources. They were no help. Some of the crew suggestions are as follows:

rape
looting
rape then looting
find starfish
get dinner
rape then get dinner

and finally "whats a quest?"

Not discouraged Macgaffery pulled out his book of treasure island, which had in reality not been printed during the alleged time of this story but he looted an advanced edition from Robert Louis Stevenson earlier that year. He read of long john silver and of the treasure and concluded.
"I need to find a treasure. And befriend a young boy who will look up to me so i can have a constantly confusing relationship to him"

He decided that mcquaid would be his young friend since all the other pirates were in thier late thirties while mcquaid was only in his early thirties. He told mcquaid to shave and improve his muddled accent. NExt came the treasure map....

He didnt have one.

His agenda reads as follows:

1.Get treasure map.
2.inspire then betray mcquaid repeatedly.
3.find treasure.
4.supper

So after finishing writing his agenda, Macgaffery pulled his briny vessel off the briney sea to a local port.

"Men," he announced to his men, "We are pulling into La Portston harbor i want all of you to subtle look around for a map. if anyone asks what you are doing DO NOT SAY looking for treasure.... I want you to say that youre..... uh ... just dont say anything i guess."

They searched numerous bars and talked to numerous shady looking individuals. The talked to toothless Jonathan McCann who is known for having an excessive amount of treasure maps yet being blind and unable to use them. He had recently lost his house and is unable to find his box of maps.

They took the blind john mccann along since he is able to write, when he can find paper. He will become useful later on in the plot to write down thier adventures so they can sell the books which will replace the revenue if they do not find treasure or if the treasure is small. Wait, No, this is the writings of John mccan right here. Yeah thats it, Im john mccann and these are my journals from my days on the s.s. pinto. Wait no that doesnt work cause how would i have known all that happened before they just picked me up. nevermind. i am just an omnicient narrator.

Finally the crew gave up and went to the map store. They sold many maps but no treasure maps. Three of the crew members including macgaffery bought a souvenir map.

That night in the galley as the men were playing the nightly game of "lets see who can punch each other in the face harder until we bleed and or pass out" macgaffery had an idea.

He took out his pen and started feverishly writing. Then men who were not punching each other in the face or had finished punching each other in the face turned around to watch. They look very very stupid.

When macgaffery was done he help up the souvenir map. It now had a full treasure map etched on it. They had a map.
Macgaffery gave mcquaid a big hug to take care of the second part of his agenda. The next morining they would set sail.

"Uh captain, how do you know there is a treasure there?"
"I, -I just remembered where one was and quickly wrote it down. Now go and clean the deck because youre inquisitiveness has spoiled my appetite."

Macgaffery slept like a baby that night with mcquaid his man boy servant and new found tutee sleeping at his feet.

And so the legend begins.

read on and you may or may not hear some one say this..."is that a treasure or did you just drop something?"
