This is a converted chef's jacket. They can be purchased through restaurant supply stores (often running, a stiff $60). After you have acquired one, you will probably find that their fit is a bit baggy, and they don't look at all yummy mad scientist. The way to change this is to first relocate the buttons so that one of the sides wraps way far about the torso left (or right) from its normal center, buttoning position. Then, cut away at what now has become the unused overlapped section. Then take this cut off piece and wrap it around your neck for an extended collar. You may have to sew some buttons about it, but it will all be worth it. After all, the local French village of peasants just won't treat you like a mad scientist unless you dress like one. |
