| Fix up your old umbrella and make it into a ReBorn Umbrella. Simply take any old dashboard deity (their usually made of hollow, evil-non-environmental plastic with a hole on the bottom) and glue it onto the pointy part of the umbrella. If you want to make it real special like this one, make the hands wave at passerby's through these easy steps: First , cut off the hands of figure, and glue wire onto the back of them. On the arm-stubs, drill two small holes from the front to the rear of the figure. Place these two wired-hands through these holes so that their little wires poke out the back of the figure. Bend these wires towards the center of the back and when they meet, make little loops with them using a pair of neeedle-nose pilers. These two loops you will want to connect to another long wire (coat hanger wire will do nicely) with a loop at the end. Put all these loops together, and when the long wire going up the back moves up and down, both hands will wave. This mechanism is located behind the cardboard cross. I put the Lucky Charms cross there to protect the paperclip, wired, hand waving mechanism from damage. It is important that you reinforce the cross with some wood or some wire, since umbrellas get alot of wear and tear. As a special bonus, it is very nifty to encircle the circumference of the umbrella with a simi-transparent black curtain that hangs down to about your shins (Never let it hang to your feet- I almost tripped many times when I was trying to get frat- boys to grab this beer can I had on a fish hook outside the umbrella-tent). This encircling curtain will make the operator of the umbrella invisible from sight! This makes a great sun umbrella since it is a near complete enclosure. It is best to cut a slit somewhere in the curtain umbrella to make it easy to get into and out of. The added feature of the curtain is excellent for increasing one's status through pure public spectacle but with a complete lack of identity. Walking down the street one day, with this thing on, I watched as people's brains short circuited over the fact that they couldn't criticize someone whose face, and body were completely hidden from view. People often have dorky, seemingly wise opinions. |
