Description: Kagome was a normal, bright-eyed, perky student until her fifteenth birthday, when a centipede mononoke/youkai(vengeful spirit/demon) attacks her. She lives in a shrine with a dry well and the centipede wants to steal the Shikon no Tama, the jewel of the Four Souls, which is hidden inside Kagome's body. The centipede pulls her into the well and Kagome is transported back in time to the Sengoku Jidai, the warring states or feudal era in Japan.
There, she meets Inuyasha, a hanyou or half-demon who was bound to a tree. Inuyasha wakes up and Kagome releases him from the spell to defeat the centipede. He tries to kill her, but Kaede puts a necklace of prayer beads around his neck and this allows Kagome to subdue Inuyasha by saying osuwari, or sit. Osuwari causes him to hit the ground forcifully.
Youkai and humans alike desire the jewel to make them powerful and it is Kagome's duty to protect it. Accidently, when trying to recover the jewel from a youkai, she shatters the Shikon no Tama with an arrow. Now she and Inuyasha must work together to find all the shards..
Back in her own time, she still has tests and is missing large amounts of school. Her grandfather is always coming up with weird diseases to explain to the school why Kagome isn't there, he can't say that she's traveling through time, can they?
