National Museum

National Museum is the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. The main building itself is an 18th century well-desinged palace. The two buildings, Wang Na Palace and Buddhaisawan Chapel, are works of art in themselves. The Chapel houses Phra Buddha Sihing image and a wide selection of artifacts. The two wings of the museum present art and sculture. Historical, from Sukhothai and Ayuthaya era, and prehistorical items are also presented.

Wat Phra Si Rattana Sasadaram, commonly know as Wat Phra Keaw, is a royal chapel with no residences for monks within the Grand Palace. It enshrines the Emerald Buddha which is the most worship Buddha image in Bangkok.

The Grand Palace was built in 1782 when king Rama I succeeded to the throne and Bangkok was found as the capital of Thailand. The architectural plan is almost identical to that of the royal Palace in the former capital of Ayuthaya. In the same compound located the Royal chapel or Wat Phra Kaeo.
