| This is the Random Facts page where you are encouraged to share whatever knowledge of LOTR you have picked up. Simply use the form at the end of page two to submit any facts you know. As far as what kind of facts, all I ask is that they have something to do with Tolkien, LOTR, The Hobbit, or The Silmarillion. They can be about the books, the author, the movies (which includes movie mistakes you may have noticed), the actors (which can include previous performances), the production crews, the places, the characters, anything! Be sure to include your name in the email so that I can give you credit for you fact, too! Also, I hold the right to question you about your facts, or make slight alterations to be more easily understood (If I've already heard the fact and can help.) If you don't have a fact to contribute, just scroll down and read a few that other people have sent in! Enjoy! RANDOM LOTR FACTS LIST: 1.) When Tolkien first wrote LOTR, it was going to be about Bilbo going out for more treasure after he spent all that he had acquired from his adventure in The Hobbit. 2.) When Tolkien realized that another Bilbo story might not work, he introduced a Frodo-like character named Bingo Bolger-Baggins. He was actually Bilbo's son! But then Tolkien realized that he could not make this work either (for obvious reasons...who would hav been Bilbo's wife?) so Bingo became Bilbo's nephew. (It wasn't until the book was nearly finished that Bingo actually became Frodo.) 3.) When Orlando Bloom first auditioned he had actually wanted the part of Faramir! 4.) Elijah Wood made a cameo appearance in Spy Kids 3-D. 5.) Sean Astin's father was in the movie "The Frighteners" which is also a Peter Jackson film. 6.) The Quenya form of Galadriel's name is Altariel. 7.) "Frodo" was originally Pippin's name! While Merry was "Marmaduke" and Sam was "Odo"! Frodo (Who started the story as Bingo) was later given the name of his traveling companion, and the other hobbits names were changed as well (obviously). 8.) Arwen and Aragorn's kids are 1/16 Elvish and 1/111,088,677,576 Numenorean! ~Arramiel, who did the math herself, without a calculator! 9.) He did however send his size double Brett Beattie to get the tattoo because Brett had spent more hours filming as Gimli than John! ~Arramiel ((More info on the Fellowship Tattoos)) 11.) When Dom brought Billy the wrong ice cream flavor, Billy locked him in a cupboard as punishment! 12.)
