| Whoops! |
| This is a list of the mistakes I found in the LotR movie. No, not things from the book that were change and/or left out, but actual director or actor stuff-ups. I have been to that site that lists things that are wrong with movies, but heaps of them were wrong or simply misinterpretations. But these are some of the ones that I found to be trueand also quite amusing! If you think of any more email them to me! Um, where did we hide the pony? While the Fellowship is resting amongst rocks (when they are discussing their journey south, and Boromir is teaching Merry and Pippin how to fight), the pony, Bill, is seen in the background (especially, when Gimli voices his opinion and suggests Moria). However, when Sarumans carrion birds fly past, and the Fellowship are all hidden, there is no sign of Bill (at one stage, I thought I could see him, but it turned out to be a shrub). The Fellowship barely had time to hide themselves, let alone a fully laden pony! Boromir: the fastest hand in the West (this has got to be my favourite) In the moments before his death, Boromir is comforted by Aragorn (as we all know). When the camera view is from above (showing Boromirs face and Aragorns back), Boromirs hand is clearly seen rested on Aragorns shoulder. But when the view switches (showing Aragorns face and the edge of Boromir mostly his shoulder), the hand is nowhere in site. In fact, it appears that Boromirs arms are both rested by his sides. This alone would really be nothing, but as the view continues to switch, from behind Aragorn, to next to/behind Boromir, the hand appears, then disappears, then reappears, etc. Hobbits get acne too There are some things that even make-up artists just cant hide. Obviously, during the filming of some scenes (specifically, during the Flight to the Ford sequence), actor Elijah Wood had a pimple just below him mouth. Make-up has covered it up as best as they could, but Frodo still has a skin-coloured bump on his otherwise flawless and smooth face. Perhaps Morgul blade stab wounds cause acne in hobbits. ^-^ Watch you dont trip over that railing! Rivendell is home to elves, so one would expect everything to be of Elvish size. However, when Frodo leaves the room that he was staying in, he leans on the railing just outside the room. With him being a hobbit, and in Rivendell, that railing should probably be the same height as him, if not over his head! Hey! Thats not Elijah, Billy, Sean or Dominic! There are several scenes in the movie where it is quite obvious that the actors dwarf doubles are filling in. One particularly bad scene is where Boromir is teaching Merry and Pippin to fight. When the camera view is from behind the hobbits, they are both (especially Merry) significantly wider and more squat than when the view shows their fronts. Other bad scenes include all of the distant shots of the Fellowship (or parts of it) walking. In these scenes, the hobbits walking styles are quite different from the close-up scenes. Gandalfs magical ring (?) Another disappearing/reappearing scene, while Gandalf and Saruman are in Orthanc, drinking wine and discussing Sauron. At first, the camera is focussed on Gandalf, and he has what appears to be a black ring on his finger (though it may be something hanging from his staff, wrapped around his finger). The focus then switches to Saruman, and when it returns to Gandalf though he himself has not moved or shifted the ring has disappeared. It then reappears briefly after another focus switch. Whats with the accent, Aragorn? Just what sort of accent is Aragorn supposed to have? It seems to jump from slightly British, to slightly Scottish, to quite American. Obviously someone wasnt paying attention during the speech/accent lessons. (Congratulations, however, go to Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Sean Astin and any other actors who had to change their normal accents, and did so successfully. I dont think I heard Elijah or Liv mess up their British accents even when Liv had to speak in Elvish and Sean Astins only faltered for a moment when he yelled.) "Anyone got any double A's?" Everyone know that Frodo's sword (well, Bilbo's), Sting glows blue when orcs are near, right? Well, in the mines of Moria, Frodo has Sting drawn for most of the battle. Yes, it is glowing to begin with, BUT, mid-battle, the sword stops glowing! There are dozens of orcs still in the room, battling with the other members of the Fellowship, yet Sting's wonderous "power" ceases to work! Maybe the batteries are dead. ^-^ Is Gandalf left of right handed? submitted by Marion In FotR Gandalf's staff is al ways in his left hand and in TTT while he is falling his sword is in his left hand. Later in TTT when Gandalf is leaving Edoras (in close up) his staff is in his right hand but when we see him riding from far away, it's in his left again. How do you switch a 6ft stick from your right hand to your left while riding a horse? |
