It is rumored that the blood of faeries flows in the Took clan. Many assume that the rumors are false, that there are no such things as faeries. True, the Tooks do behave strangely, going off on adventures (which no respectful hobbit would ever do), telling stories filled with dragons and wizards and elves, and generally causing mischief. But FAERIES? Unlikely. Or so it is widely believed. The truth is, faery blood DOES flow in the Tooks, and quite heavily, I might add. One of the Took ancestors had indeed taken a faery wife, and while that was a long time ago, the blood did not dilute with each generation. You see, if a child is half faery, their children are half faery, regardless of the race of the other parent. Because faery blood possesses a magic all it’s own, it will not diminish. Therefore, every Took since then has been half faery, every Took possesses magic....and every Took must hide the fact that the rumors are true. For full-blooded faeries are extinct. And if the ones who hunted them discover that their blood still flows....their magic will be lost forever.
