3.4 Future Experimentation

The proteins that interact with frataxin will undoubtedly play a role in mitochondrial iron homeostasis. Currently, little is known about iron transport and regulation in the mitochondria, so phenotypical and biochemical analysis of mutants of the interacting proteins in yeast may allow for clarification of this process. As more is learned about the process and the role that frataxin plays, treatments for FRDA can be designed.
