Piperdale Golden

Berryglyn Flat Coated
Retrievers
Lachlan getting a flat coat kiss from Scout, in his bed with his "Woof" suit on, and his first meeting with a dog - my lovely Piper when he was three days old...
My name is Trisha and I live with my gorgeous son - Lachlan, our team of dogs, three cats and a couple of goldfish. We live in Hamilton, a central city on the North Island of New Zealand.
My ex-husband Mike and I had two dogs (Timothy a border collie and Carbon a lab cross) that introduced me to dog sports and the fun that can be had with them.
In 2000, I brought my first pedigree, Piper the Golden Retriever (Ch. Kerriedale the Pied Piper), although as a child I had a beautiful dog Gus, who made me fall in love with the breed. Learning about Goldens I came accross the Flat Coated Retriever and was attracted to them for their versatility. Mike and I bought Bradie (Ch. Annaglyn Blackberry Bradie) and I was smitten - not only are the Flat Coats versatile but they have a sense of humour and bring so much happiness to life.
After showing for a while I bred my first litter of Golden Retrievers, and started to learn more and more about Flat Coats. There was not a lot of information available in NZ, and I searched the web to find more... I met Peter Kennon from Bushman Kennels, Australia - and he spent a lot of time teaching me about the breed. I also became friendly with his daughter, Judy - and they offered me the opportunity to import and co-own Scout (Aus/NZ Ch. Bushman Burning Ambition QC). I jumped at the chance to have this amazing dog, and this shared boy has cemented my friendship with the people from Bushman, who I am very grateful to for their time, teaching, encouragement and support.
My Golden Retrievers have taught me so much, it is a hard breed to compete in - but through this competition I have made some amazing friends - and I have been helped in the establishing of my kennels, and given a lot of support. Golden Retriever people have also helped me with my flat coats, as it can be hard when you are the only one in a breed.
My kennels were established in 2000. I do not breed a lot, maybe one or two litters a year, and normally only to keep something myself.
Between my son, the dogs and working - its a busy life - but one with many joys and happiness, and I wouldn't have it any other way...
First dog show at less than a month old...
