John looked out the window in time to see that they had inadvertently splashed the girl standing on the corner, with water. Not that she wasnt wet already, because of the rain, but now he just felt bad. He told the driver to wait a second, and then rolled down the window.
Hey, Im so sorry about that, getting you wet I mean. He paused Well, can I give you a ride somewhere?
Tatem looked at the face in the window, a curious smile spreading across her face. Yes actually that would be wonderful if you dont mind. I have to get to work early Im setting up for a photo shoot today.
He opened the door, and slid across the leather seat to the other side, so that she had room for herself and her bag. She plopped her bag in the seat, deposited herself after, grabbed the handle and shut the door. John leaned across her, and pushed the button, Hey we need to make an extra stop, I told the lady wed deposit her at her job
The driver nodded in agreement Whatever you say Mr. Cena.
He looked at her a crooked grin crossing his face as he reached into his bag grabbing a towel, and shoving it her way. Here you might need this, ya know beens your dripping everywhere.
Yeah thanks, for noticing. She took the towel rolling her eyes Glad that is was so glaringly obvious Im wet.
His laugh came easily, as studied her carefully wiping off her face and ringing out her hair. Thinking how refreshing it was to see a woman that wasnt completely enamored of him because of his celebrity status. The fact that she totally rolled her eyes, and blew him off added to her appeal. So where do you need to go, you said you had to go to work right, is it close by? He took in her casual dress, maybe she was just a college intern, she couldnt be more than 20 or so.
Im Tatem Stevens, and yes I work just up the road a mile or so, She paused looking him up and down And you are who? Mr. Man with the spiffy car.
Well, I am John Cena, He laughed Im in town for a..
Her phone ringing cut him off.
She scrambled for her phone but not in time before he heard the ring tone. Your boy's a bad man, and we invadin the streets make unclever rappers scurred, they be droppin the heat shocked the world, now I'm standin alone I flip fools like them clamshell cellular phones
Hey Darce, um, you rang? she blushed furiously as he smiled at her, his blue eyes glinting like diamonds with amusement.
Yes I did they didnt get the black chest props you wanted, Darcy took a deep breath, Just remember I love you. They sent this tan couch like the one we had in college, you have to work with that.
Okay and what exactly am I gonna do pose him like a play boy and tell him to fake being demure? She rolled her eyes, angrily, Its ok Darce Ill get it done no problem, and where there is a Tatem there is a way.
She slammed her phone shut, suddenly aware of the odd silence filling the car. Turning her head she immediately noticed the lopsided, I wanna laugh but am fighting the urge smile on his face. Do I look like a raccoon or something? she questioned nervously
Not being able to hold it in any longer, Johns laughter filled the space. So you um, like my song huh?
Tatem tilted her chin up defiantly, No actually it was a drunk spur of the moment thing, that seemed good at the time. Oh hey you can drop me off right here, thanks for the ride.
Her response silenced him momentarily as he looked questioningly out the window, Are you sure, I can drop you right at the door of your work its ok I promise.
Well, I guess its up the street and to the right, the first brick building on the right. She sat ramrod straight on the edge of the seat. He told the driver the directions shed given him, and soon they pulled up in front of the office building.
