"Sur la route de Gerry Roufs" is an association created by Morag Champy, Dominique Conin and Michle Cartier (wife of Gerry) to keep going until all hope is lost, search for the truth on the fate of Gerry Roufs, vanished at sea during the Vende Globe race, and all this "until a satisfactory result is reached or until resources, means and hope have all been exhausted".
Given winds and currents, the Chilian coast was the most likely spot to find some trace of the LG 2 (either some floating debris or the complete boat) and this is precisely where the boat was recently found.
This is why the Association previously went on a sensitization campaign among various users of the coastal area, as well as among the Chilian media, in order to identify any tangible piece of wreckage that might come from the boat itself.
The franco-quebecquer Robert Charlebois, the sea photograph Jacques Vapillon as well as the Loch printing shop in Auray were the first to participate in this initiative.
Thanks to the precious collaboration of the Chilian Ambassy in Paris, the Ministre des Affaires trangres et du Commerce in Ottawa, Canada and of the Ambassadors of Canada in Paris and Santiago, the association "Sur la route de Gerry Roufs" and the Socit Groupe LG are being informed of the important search currently underway by the Chilian naval forces.
Ths Association, after distributing pictures and descriptions of the boat among professional users of the Chilian coastal area, is filled with a real sense of hope. It is currently trying to assemble a small team of specialists ready to join South America to investigate further.
Our means are unfortunately very limited. You can help us to achieve this ultimate step in the discovery of truth about the fate of our friend Gerry, by sending your donations to the Association.
