Shubra Meaning: Farm in Egyptian
Shubra is a beautiful mare of class and style. A blend of Russian/Polish from her sire with Russian/Crabbet/Polish from her dam. Shubie as she is affectionately known is a huge favorite around the farm and away from home. I don't know quite why but people seem attracted to this mare. I can say she is a even a favorite of mine. Shubra never had a Arabian show career. After her scarring her leg that pretty much shot all chances of halter in breed shows. What it did not do was scar her chances to continue to be loved and appreciated no matter what cosmetic differences she has. While Shubra's importance may never be known on a grand scale it will be known by those who know and love her. Shubra is the last and only suriving offspring of Pedroznik, a grey son of the great *Podsnejnik.

*Podsnejnik sired 33 foals in Holland before he was exported here to the US. His Champion dutch daughter Popova and his Champion American son Othelloo are among his known progeny. *Podsnejnik went on to sire 59 offspring here in the US. Many of whom were National champions in Huntseat, Western Pleasure, and English Pleasure. I can say that while Pedroznik did not have a show career himself. If he had been in the right hands he could and would of easily excelled in English Pleasure. He was big moving and powerful in at 15.2hh. He had a lot of presence but no financial backing or proper training. He was one of many wasted horses here in the US.

Sadly Shubra's dam is in the same boat. I fear she will never be known for anything either. The entire family met her in 03' and she doesn't even ride. Balynka is a pretty enough mare and even shows a few characteristics similar to her daughter. Shubra most likely IMHO will be Balynka's best known progeny to carry on her lines as well. Balynka is a daughter of Siberiann Express who stood here in MI for a period of time. I do not have current information on his accomplishments.Express's
Sire was Nanit son of well known Kilimandscharo. Balynka's dam Zellababe we owned for a period of time. Having bone splints she was never shown or ridden. Zella was too known for her intense knee and hock action. She had a body like a brick house. 15hh, 1000lbs, she had legs, bones, and hooves of steel. Many times mistaken for a quarter horse. Zella was beautiful in her own right and carried a pedigree of champions herself. Her sire Argamus a Son of Aramus (known mainly with Wayne Newton). Aramus known for producing Champions. Zella's dam Orbuzzela who I heard was not that attractive. But, she was a daughter of *Oran Van Crabbet. OVC was underrecognized in my opinion. OVC was shown in Park, that I do know.

Enough about champion ancestors and back to Shubra.
As I said Shubra's show career may not be huge in most people's eyes but it has been worth it. Shubra was asked at the age of 4 as a green horse to be responsible for Hattie who was 7 at the time. While Shubra and Hattie  have had their up's and downs over the past 10 years they truly have come so far. A huge part of Shubra's versatility is through Hattie. Shubra has been shown in 4-H (a Huge and Important Education Show system in my opinion) off and on since 99'. Shubra took 3rd in Halter Mares 2yrs and Older in a class of 27. She was the only Arabian representing that day. Shubra has been in Western. Then later in Equestrian Team years later asked to do Western and Huntseat. Saddleseat would of been done if there had been the equipment. Shubra can passibly do Western but is much better suited to Huntseat.
It is obvious that other area's that Shubra truly excels in is as a broodmare. While Shubra has not produced necessarily as many foals as others have at her age. Shubra has produced quality in the 2 foals she has had. Both colt's. Both sons of our Black stallion, HCF Night Stalker. Nighter brought to the table not only his well known Spanish/Egyptian/CMK bloodlines, but the fact that he himself is as versatile. He is well built and his pedigree has made him the quality he deserves to be respected and known as. Shubra's first colt, Mazrak PDA aka: Max, Maximus. Born April 04'. Max was stallion quality. He had a body to die for. He had natural knee/hock action that is so desirable in this day and age. He had a overly friendly personality. He would of been ideal as a replacement. Max broke his forearm a month later having to be humanely euthenized. It was a very sad loss that day.
A year later in May of 05' Shubra's second foal was born. A little different then Max. Nights Spitfire PDA. His nickname is difficult as we have been having a time not calling this similar colt Max as we were so used to seeing. Fire is the same color as his brother Max. At first his body style was different. It has some similarities now as he grows. He too is overly friendly. Stallion Quality. Action similar to many a Park horse out there. Fire has natural fetlock snap and he's a lot hotter than his brother Max. Fire also has a lot more sass. More will be seen of this guy as he mature's and hopefully he will be up to snuff in all ways possible to be accepted as stallion quality in this family.
Mazrak above. Actually the far left photo won me 2nd place in the Photography Contest put on by the eastcoast magazine, HorseNews. The photograph was also set up and cleared by me to be put on the following month's cover but was not with the change of the editor. Fire Below.
