Nik's year has started and started well. This guy is now under saddle and working his way to becoming one of the most multi-talented companions. Nik had a slow start to his riding career as it was hard getting somebody that was light enough but also had the time to put into him. Nik has not only had 4 years of halter work and futurities under his belt, but also Hattie had put around three and a half months of continuous ground work into him in 2001. So he was well on his way, just needed the rider and the time. With Briana's retirement sale of her gelding Spirit in 2003 she was in need of a horse and Nik was what was available. We also now have a round pen available so Briana has been able to become confortable with Nik and at least get him going. She says the one good thing about Nik is his willingness to learn.
UPDATE - Sept.05.
Nik now has ribbons to his credit in 4-H and is also competing in Equestrian Team for Briana's freshman year. Nik not only shows western, and huntseat. He is also working over 2ft fences and will advance as Briana does. He also has taken his experience into Costume class, and Trail class. He is well worth his weight in gold.While he is not currently For Sale, he may be down the road to the right buyer. Nik has logged thousands of hours under saddle by now. |
