MUSIC ISSUE 2003: Local Music Directory

Welcome to our first annual Local Music Directory. We pleaded, cajoled and otherwise sent out a call for all working acts and musicians to send us their information. It's not complete -- neither Gloria nor Trick Daddy replied to our request for listing info -- but still, it's about as authoritative a snapshot of the local music scene as you'll find.

If your act is not listed, please note that we've included every act and service that replied to our call, and tried hunting down other acts. However, in some cases individual musicians were not listed unless they specifically noted they performed as a solo act. In other cases, we were unable to verify an act through the e-mail or website provided.

This directory will be posted at http://www.streetmiami.com/, and we're already hard at work on next year's directory. If you want to be included in this year's web directory, please visit www.sixo.com/street/index.htm to fill out and submit an online form, or e-mail [email protected] for further instructions.

Note: All information, including capsule descriptions, has been submitted by the acts and service providers. StreetMiami is not responsible for claims of talent, prowess or services.

2060: Powerful brothers (two) and sister rock band. Story behind the name: Our music has been deeply influenced by the music in the '60s, like the Beatles, even in the year 2000 we didn't do exactly the type of rock The Beatles did, that style influenced our hard-rock (alternative), so that makes up our name 2060 (2000 + 60 = 2060). [email protected]. www.angelfire.com/rock/the2060.

35 DOWN: Combine the hard rock alternative sounds of the '90s, add a melodic foundation, refreshingly modern flair and lyrics that reflect the trials and tribulations of life and love in the 21st century, and you have captured the essence of what 35 Down is! THE CREEPY T'S: A psycho-delic trip through the haunted trash rock underground while being controlled by the darker thoughts of Herschell Gordon Lewis. Story behind the name: The Creepy T was a model kit manufactured by Aurora in the 1960s/70s, a hot rod with a skull body, and makes a cool name for the band because it sounds like a gang. ADONIS CROSS: Aimee Mann with different chromosomes -- smartly crafted, somewhat quirky songs not on mainstream radio because my abs aren't steel. Story behind the name: Given by my father -- trust me, as much as I love irony, I wouldn't name my skinny, bespectacled ass Adonis. [email protected].

DEAR STARLET,: Rock music which may very well spawn the next great world religion.
