{rolloThe Mitsubishi type 74 MBT was designed by Japan during the whole sixties, its first prototypes being built in 1969 as STB. Over 800 tanks have been built since then, mostly to replace the obsolete Type 61 Mitsubishi MBT.

The standard equipment features computerised fire system, stabilised main gun, and a basic NBC system, plus mounting points in the fornt hull for a dozer blade. Its adjustable Hydro-pneumatic suspension enables it for a ground clearence from 200 to 650 mm. Its hull and mechanics have allowed the development of some variants, like the Type 78 ARV and the Type 87 self-propelled AA gun.}
