M 8 ARMOURED CAR

{ROThis is a real War veteran. The M 8 was manufactured by Ford, under the designation T22. The United States could observe the tendencies of the operations in the european front during 1940 and 1941, what allowed them to design a more efficient light armoured vehicle, with low profile, little weight, and a 37 mm cannon mounted in an open turret. The 4 men crew were comfortable in its wide inside room. Named "Greyhound"by the british army, they didn't like it much because of its weak armour (for british standards), just about 19 mm, specially its thin lower armour, with 4 mm, too vulnerable to mines. The Greyhound couldn't match its german counterpart, the Skdf 231, but was consistent with the american and british doctrine of silent reconnaissance. Its job wasn't to fight. At the end of the war, 11677 M 8's had been built, many of them remaining in service with a number of armies throughout the world until well entered 60's.LLO}
