Kernville, CA and Winterpark, CO...
Kernville is located up in the Sequioa National Forest, east of Bakersfield. We opted to do the two day mountain biking descent with some whitewater rafting at the end of our ride. The first day of riding was pretty painful! You would think that when you ride a shuttle up to 9,200ft, there aint that much climbing left to do, BUT there was actually quite a lot of climbing left to be done! And the altitude didn't help at all, not to mention some really sandy sections and my overweight full-suspension rig dragging me down. The second day was a blast, mostly awesome downhill singletrack. My advise to you is to start from Big Meadow, it's a lot more fun that way. Check out www.kernvalley.com for more info about the area.
Out of all the mountain biking trails in Colorado, I had to go to a ski resort!! Oh well, I didn't have that much time to explore coz my plane was leaving on Sunday and Winterpark was the closest mountain biking destination from Denver. Regardless, I had a great time! I also got to check out the Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado's most popular attraction! My stay in CO was definitely too short. I plan on going back!
Thanks to you for taking time to check us out.
Until next time .... MABUHAY!
