Feeding your Neps
There is actually no need to feed you Neps if it is placed outside of your house.
If you intend to hang them, make sure that ants and other insects can easily get into
your plants. When I mean insect I only mean those that will make your Neps as the preditor
and not as the prey. I normally hang my Neps beside other plants and make sure that its leaves
are touching other plants so that ants can crawl into the neps. I even place some rope connecting
my Neps to the wall where ants normally would pass by. So do I still feed my Neps? Well just for
the fun on it .... YES. What ever small insect I found in the garden I put them inside the pitcher.
For insect that are quite big, my alata would be willing to take it. So far those big caterpillars
are not a favorite of my Neps as their pitcher would normally die. Maybe its too much for them to handle.
But when ever I have some scrambled egg for breakfast, I make it a point to share it with my neps.
I would normally crush the shell into small pieces then add rain water and let it stand for a day.
On the following day I would get my dropper and put a small portion of my egg shell soup inside the
pitcher of my Neps. These egg shell soup has already been proven to be beneficial on orchids. You can ask my mom about it
and she would definitely agree.
