Amiel Gerald A. Roldan was born in 1972 in the City of Mandaluyong. He studied painting at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and he has been practicing for a number of years as a painter, installation artist and printmaker.

He has participated in group exhibitions since 1995, including Ang De Latang Pinoy at the Hiraya Gallery, the Vargas Museum, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the University of Philippines Baguio in 1995; Memoirs of Pipay at the Hiraya Gallery in 1996; Crossroads at the Australia Centre in 1998, Xprint at the Vargas Museum in 1998; Reprint: A Collaboration Between Filipino and Australian artists at the Australia Centre in 1998; Todays Show at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1999, Bathala Na at the Art Center in 2000 and Surface at the Ayala Museum Galleries in 2002.

Roldan has been invited to represent the Philippines in the 1995 Japan Print Asia at the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum and in the 4th Triennial Mondiale D' Estampes Petit Format in Chamaliares France in 1998. He was an Asian Cultural Council and Starr Foundation grant awardee in New York City, USA.

He has also coordinated with artists and printmakers abroad like the resident artists of Studio One in Canberra, Australia. 

He has had two solo exhibitions in printmaking with Hiraya Gallery in 2000 with Crossover Memoirs of Pipay and Huling Hari and the Kulay Diwa Galleries in 2003 with Pasintabi.

Some of the recurring themes in his past works revolve around politics, religion and the plight of individuals - regression, denial, faith/faithlessness, courage and wit.
