IN MEMORY of NELLIE
Continue on.....
I remember the day our life started together very well. I was 9 or 10 years old and i was always after my dad to get a dog. My dad refused for along time. He had his pride and joy a heiz 57 dog named Killer passed away years before, and he wasnt ready for another dog. My dad swore he would never haveanother dog, because the pain of loss of Killer was to much. I remember losing Killer and i know how much he meant to my father...to all of us. To have a couple weeks old puppy left on your doorstep in the middle of the night is quite a shock. My dad trained him and he obeyed my dad like he was the king of the world. I understand how great of a loss Killer for him now. My life started with Nellie on a day my dad finally gave in and said we could have a dog. We went to the dog pound. We all walked in and i saw this all Black GSD and i was like in love. She was mine when i first laid eyes on her. My dad told me to come over and look at the other dogs, because Nellie was in the office, and he thought Nellie was the dog wardens dog. The man walked in and told my dad no she was just so scared of storms, that he let her in the office with him. He told my dad what i just learned many years later. Nellie was sopossed to have been put to sleep days before, but he didnt have the heart to do it. He said he had GSD's and Nellie was really a very special dog. That was that i was already hooked on her...i was sold from the start.
While they we're inside working everything out, i had Nellie on a leash, and we we're getting in the car. The man came outside with my parents. He was just really shocked that she had taken to me and just gotten in the car with me. I wasnt, this was my new bestfriend. I didn't even know her name until we got home. First my dad stopped and got her fav. dog food and all the doggie stuff she needed. When we went home i was so thrilled i didnt even notice i didnt know her name yet. Whe my mom told me her name i even said it wrong the first couple of times. I was calling 'Nillie.... Nillie...Nillie' and i couldnt figure out why she wouldnt come. I thought my bestfriend didnt like me. Then my mom was like no say it like this 'Nellie' and she immediatly came to me. Soon after that we moved into a different house. Nellie was really excited. Not only did she have a new family, but a family that moved and took her with them! I remember her searching room to room. Just covering this whole house investigating. I had not even picked my room, nor saw it, but my mom picked mine. Well, Nellie did. She ran upstairs looking around and then took a dump in my brand new room. I guess it was her way of saying 'this is our room i have marked it' or she meant it was her room. Either way we shared it.
