Motherboards
or politically correct
Mobos
I don't know much about how everything works but I do know the names of most the parts and what they are for.
The main parts that are on the motherboard are:.....
CPU-the brain of the motherboard ; where circuits are led to and from
CACHE MODULE-where recently accessed operations are store to be re-opened later
RAM-enables to computer to store actively running applications and thier data
CHIPSET-transfers information to and from all other motherboard circuit boards
EXPANSION SLOTS-AGP, ISA, and PCI which handle video, audio ,and other subsystems
IDE & FLOPPY CONNECTORS-connect to the floppy, cd rom, zip drive, cd-rw drive, etc.
BIOS-the chip that goes through and makes sure that the system is running smooth and checks to see that there is as much memory, RAM, etc. as there should be
BATTERY-keeps the real time clock correct and keeps you information while the computer is off
CPU socket
SIMM SLOTS
IDEs, FLOPPY
CACHE
BATTERY
BIOS
Parts of a drawn motherboard
(remember motherboards are not always the same in fact most likey they are not).
