Vows: a definition
A vow is defined as a promise made to God. The promise is binding, and so differs from a simple resolution which is a present purpose to do or omit certain things in the future. It is a profession that to God is due the dedication of our actions, and an acknowledgment of the order which makes Him our last end. By adding to our obligations, we declare that God deserves more than He demands. A vow, even in an unimportant matter, presupposes the full consent of the will; it is an act of generosity towards God. ______
Personal vows
1. I believe in the sanctity of marriage and the sacredness of sexual pleasures. ______
2. I believe that sex and marriage are gifts from God and include great responsibility. ______
3. I believe that sex was created for use only within the holy marriage covenant.
4. I promise to guard my eyes and ears: to refrain from looking at pornography, other types of sexual perversion, and to be cautious of what I look at and listen to. ______
5. I promise to be chaste until marriage, and faithful to my partner thereafter. ______
6. As part of my responsibility for being a chosen convent member, I promise to be a good example to others of one who lives a pure lifestyle and upholds and represents GodŐs values of love and purity in my life. ______
