                                                               FADE IN:

INT. RANDOM FAMILY'S HOME. LIVING ROOM. MORNING.

As snow passes over the camera's lens we watch the four
members of a family run down the stairs on Christmas morning.
A YOUNG BOY immediately runs to a what looks like a 2 foot
tall robot. He flips the switch on and the robot begins to
walk. One of the parents picks up a camera. The YOUNG BOY
puts his arm around the toy and smiles.

Suddenly, the sparks shoot out of the robot. The YOUNG BOY
               shakes uncontrollably.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (V.O.)
The toy that would change the
                         world. Badly conceived, poorly put
together. It put 7 children in to
                         the hospital. The company lost
                         everything.

                                                                CUT TO:

               INT. OFFICE. DAY.

DUNCAN (Scott Wolf) stands in the hall waiting for someone,
looking agitated. His face brightens up.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (Yelling)
                         Ed!

DUNCAN is suddenly tackled from behind by a big man wearing a
               suit.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (V.O.)
                         I just lost my job.

                                                                CUT TO:

               INT. GROCERY STORE. MIDNIGHT.

Florescent light bulbs cast a odd glow on a bland isle
featuring canned foods. NASH (Rider Strong) puts prices on
individual cans of chili, looking very tired. The black
shades under his eyes tell a story of the night before so
well that he need not say a word.

                                                                CUT TO:

               EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD. 3 AM.

A beat up 70's VW Bug comes sailing around the corner. The
top half of NASH'S body is outside of the window. He holds a
baseball bat in his hands as he laughs like a madman. Lights
turn on in houses, yells from men can be heard. NASH smashes
a mailbox sideways as they pass it. The teens inside the car
               can be heard howling.

NASH peers back into the car, looking for his beer. Just as
he brings his head back out a mailbox appears. NASH'S face
hits the box with a thud and knocks him out immediately.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (V.O.)
It has been made clear that my
                         brother has very little direction
                         in his life.

                                                                CUT TO:

               INT. GOLD HOUSEHOLD. EARLY MORNING.

In the living room of a rather luxurious home DUNCAN and NASH
wait, staring at a big screen TV that is turned off. Both
seem completely uninterested in speaking to each other.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (V.O.)
Our mother had called us both for a
meeting at the house. She is a very
formal woman, as you might have
                         guessed.

JESSICA GOLD enters the room in a all business manner and
sits across from the two brothers. She smiles and nods in
               appreciation to their presence.

                                   JESSICA
                         Your father is dead.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (Bewildered)
                         What?

                                   NASH
                             (Laughs)
                         Shut up.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (V.O.)
Our mother had once claimed that
our father had died. It ended up
simply being a ploy to get us to
                         clean our bedroom.

DUNCAN immediately stands up very shaken by the news.

                                   DUNCAN
                         When did this happen?

JESSICA shrugs her shoulders and takes a sip of champagne.

                                   JESSICA
                         I don't know. Two...three weeks
ago. You know how your father was
with his privacy. He wanted to keep
                         this on the down low.

NASH stands up and joins his family.

                                   NASH
How did the papers not let us know?

                                   JESSICA
Because your father is in the
                         basement.

                                                                CUT TO:

INT. GOLD HOUSE BASEMENT - CONTINUOUS

NASH, DUNCAN, and JESSICA all stand over a glass tube.

                                   NASH
                         This can't be legal.

The camera shows ROBERT GOLD lying in the tube. He has been
dead for a while but his body is still well reserved.

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
My mother had been keeping dad in a
air tight glass tube since he had
                         passed. It's probably what he
                         always wanted.

                                                                CUT TO:

INT. GOLD HOUSE LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

JESSICA is putting a tape into the VCR on top of the big
               screen TV.

                                   JESSICA
Your father wanted you two to see
                         this.

She presses the remote and a live version of ROBERT comes on.
He is sitting behind a large desk very formally.

                                   ROBERT
I'm sorry it took dying to get you
boys together. You two have both
                         been huge failures in life.

The boys sit on the couch with different reactions. Nash
               accepts it. Duncan looks furious.

                                   ROBERT
Don't give me that look Duncan. You
may not be a failure like Nash, but
                         you are still a failure.
                             (beat)
Nash, you want to spend all your
                         time driving fast cars, smoking
                         marijuana cigarettes, going to
                         makeout parties, and listening to
Coldplay. I gave you everything and
                         you've done nothing.
                             (beat)
                         Duncan, you're a workaholic. You're
twenty-nine years old, and I'd bet
you're still a virgin. You two can
                         learn something from each other.
This is why you will both co-run
the family record store. You two
will get along. I don't care if I
                         never get to see it.

The screen fades to black. Duncan erupts.

                                   DUNCAN
                         He Can't be serious!!

Nash gets up to erupt as well.

                                   NASH
I do NOT listen to Coldplay!!

                                                                CUT TO:

               INT. DUNCAN'S CAR - LATER

DUNCAN is driving with NASH in the passenger seat. "Clocks"
by Coldplay is playing on the stereo. NASH just looks at
               DUNCAN awkwardly.

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
Nash and I haven't talked in two
                         years. I don't care if he doesn't
like Coldplay. It's my radio. I can
feel his beady eyes on me right
                         now.

DUNCAN decides to finally break the silence.

                                   DUNCAN
                         What's wrong?

                                   NASH
Just wondering how we're going to
run a record store, when you listen
                         to garbage like Coldplay.

                                   DUNCAN
Whoa, WE'RE not going to run this
store. You can work there if you
want, but I'm not going to let you
                         run it into the ground.

                                   NASH
                             (sarcastically)
Yeah, you're too used to that.

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
                         Nash, one point. Duncan, zero.

                                   NASH
We don't have to get along, but we
                         might as well try.

                                   DUNCAN
Why do you want this so badly?

The car comes to a stop in the parking lot behind the store.
NASH grabs the handle and starts to step out. As he's getting
               out, he responds.

                                   NASH
                         Good way to get girls.

The door shuts, leaving DUNCAN alone.

                                   DUNCAN
                             (laughs)
                         Yeah right.

                                                                CUT TO:

SOUNDTRACK: JENNY LEWIS - HANDLE WITH CARE

INT. THE GOLD MINE RECORD STORE

NASH and DUNCAN walk into the store their father built. It is
separated into four sections, essentially. On the right wall,
Music DVDs are stocked to the very back of the store. On the
left, in front of the counter is a section of all vinyl. In
the back, their is a closet for bands T-Shirts. In the very
center, their is a HUGE island of albums, categorized by
               their genres.

NASH feels like a kid in a candy store and starts walking
around, touching everything. DUNCAN stands still and marvels
in awe that he owns this.

A woman behind the counter in her early twenties notices
DUNCAN just standing there. She is the only employee there.

She walks over to DUNCAN and extends her hand.

                                   CIARA
Hi, I'm Ciara. Welcome to The Gold
Mine. How may I help you?

DUNCAN shakes her hand and just looks at her.

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
                         Perfect way to get girls.

                                                         FADE TO BLACK.

ON THE NEXT GOLD MINE GUTTED:

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
I try to dispose of my father's
                         body.

ROBERT's tube is seen flying down a hill. DUNCAN is shown
running at top speed to catch it.

                                   DUNCAN (V.O.)
And Nash shows how responsible he
                         is.

NASH takes a flask out from under the counter and takes a
               swig.

He is then shown, sleeping next to the cash register.
