- Dear Pink-Link advice,
I just transferred to a new school, and even though I know a few people, I don't really have any friends. I don't even know what kind of group I belong in. It's been two weeks and I'm starting to feel kind of depressed. Any advice? --M, Wyoming
- Dear M,
What's going on in your life has, I believe, happened to everyone in the world at least once, so feel comforted in the fact that you're not alone. Here's the advice I have for you: I have a real problem with social classes in school, because so many people are pressured into conforming. But seeing as they're unavoidable, all I can say is don't worry about where you belong. Instead, start by chatting up people next to you in some of your classes. You might find you have nothing in common, but then again, you could meet some pretty cool people. Maybe you could join a club or two on campus? Clubs are a great way to meet people with common interests. Or maybe getting directly involved is more your type; joining student government or volunteering at school events. Whatever you like to do, find a way to apply it to school. Overall, take deep breaths and relax. You will make new friends, as long as you remain calm and remain yourself. Best of luck!
