    Yoga

Ah, Yoga, what other sport would allow you to pose as a dog and still be considered trendy? None…none I say! (I can think of one...) All it consists of is assuming several different positions (all with bitchin names like tree - now who wouldn’t wanna be a tree?) and they supposedly attune you with ancient something-or-others to improve basically every aspect of...everything. So what’s there to lose?

    Pro's

*Huge improvements in flexibility and strength

*It hypes up the body and calms down the mind (don't ask me how the hell that works)

*It’s easy, cheap and you can take it anywhere (which is difficult with a treadmill)

*It can pep you up if you do a quickie first thing in the morning or calm you down before you go to sleep (a yoga quickie…geez)

    Con's

*If you’re not already Gumby-esque, it can be hard to get started

*All those weird words and terminology can be kinda hard to get used to

*If you're learning from a book (which can be done), it can be hard to understand the instructions

*A real good class or video tailored to your ability level can be hard to find (everybody is different)

    Gear

A mat, stretchy comfortable clothes and sturdy tennis shoes oughtta do it. Other things can sometimes be used too, but those will be mentioned in the specific class or video you take part in.

    Time

Most classes and videos are about an hour long. However, the beauty of Yoga is that you can do a few minutes whenever, wherever (hee, hee, its like an SUV).

    Get Started!

If you need help finding classes near you, try YellowPages.com For some good video tapes, however, we reccomend AM/PM Yoga for Beginners.
