Three Little Tricks for Smoother Lips

Smooth lips are a really big deal. Not only are kissing and smacking your lips together more enjoyable, but smooth, nourished lips hold lip color much better. That, and chapped lips look icky. So follow these tips and *voila!* nice smooooooth lips!

*Exfoliate your lips! To some people this may seem obvious, but to many others, it's never occurred, but it makes sense. It’s important to exfoliate your face to keep it smooth, and lips are no different. Well, okay, they’re kind of different. You need to be a little more gentle when in comes to your lips. You can either get a washcloth (one that’s bumpy, not smooth) and wet it, then rub it (circular motions) on your lips. Another option is to use the same exfoliation product that you use on your face (we recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub Extra Gentle, For Sensative Skin), but be extremely gentle in its use. Use it like you brush your teeth, soft circles.

*Moisturize, especially after exfoliating. Once you’re lips have been scrubbed to perfection, it’s important to swipe some chapstick, lip balm etc. on ‘em. For this we recommend Burt’s Beeswax Lip Balm. It’s also a good idea to lay it on right before you go to bed; you’ll wake up with great, soft lips. Make sure you use the right kind of lip balm, though, because if you use one for healing your lips, it won’t really moisturize.

*Protect your lips from the sun just like your skin. It’s very important to wear a hat and stay outta the sun as much as possible. However, if you go out into the sun for more than 15 minutes, use a sunscreen infused stick. It doesn’t taste too good to put sunscreen on your lips (trust me). For this, we reccomend Burt's Beeswax Lifeguard's Choice Lip Balm (it's the best!).
