This is just a big sports arena, taken from a scenic viewing area off one of the roads.  Mostly what the picture shows though is the smog.  There's a lot of it.  It makes the sunsets beautiful (at like 3:30pm…), but it makes the air in New York seem like it's been purified several times over.  I was careful not to shoot any of the smokestacks in the foreground, that kind of ruin the panoramic view, but you can still see some at the back right.

Victory Park:

Victory Park honors the Russian's defeat of Napoleon.  The angle of this photo's really bad, but the shape about 3/4 up the obelisk is a statue of Nike, the goddess of victory from Greek mythology.  The monument is 140.8 meters tall, because the war with Napoleon lasted for 1,408 days.

This is another monument at the entrance to Victory Park, across the street from Nike's Obelisk.  It's the Victory Arch, made in the French manor after Napoleon was repelled.  This is the road that Napoleon took in and out of Moscow.  The French have a similar arch in Paris, commemorating THEIR victory over the Russians.  Hmm...

Finally, the picture on the left below is the Bolshoi Theater, complete with a tour bus and portable toilets.  The picture on the right is the monument to Gorbachev (I think).  It's across the street from the theater.
