           In memory of Sultan
            1989? - 2000
        A beautiful old boy.
The first time we saw Sultan was in the newspaper. He was a featured dog from a shelter. I just had to go and see him, so after very little convincing and a couple of phone calls, we went to meet him. His story was that he was a site dog in a factory.... let out at night to guard the premises and locked away in the daytime. The poor old fellow was a terrible sight.... thin, filthy, stand-offish and obviously in a bad way. His back legs were wobbly but he made a great effort to accompany us on the short walk to the corner and back. We took him home. Over the next few short months we fattened him up, cleaned him up and eased his back problems with medication. He learned to wag his tail. He grew to love cuddles and his friend Shannon. He liked going for short walks around the lake. He was a magestic old boy and we used to wonder about what he would have been like with love and care instead of neglect. He was always happy to have his nose rubbed. He was my friend and companion. Sadly, on January 31, 2000 he lost his life to stomach cancer. He is sadly missed. He was my dog, now he runs with the angels.
