Arnie is back as the indestructible cyborg send from the future with some business to settle. This time however, there's a twist. In the first movie, Arnie was sent back as an evil robot, intent on killing Sarah Connor, mother of John Connor (who wasn't born then) who was to give birth to the child that would be responsible for saving mankind by leading a resistance battle against the terminators in the future. Lost yet? Good...this time around, he is sent back as a good terminator to protect John Connor (now eleven years old) from a different, more advanced terminator who has the same job Arnie had in Terminator 1 - kill John Connor.
This twist on the film would make Arnie less fierce, you might think. Wrong. Throughout the film Arnie has his now trademark shotgun, blowing holes in the baddie terminator left right and centre, destroying an entire car park of police cars with a rather handy mini gun, and eventually doing battle with the bad terminator in a blast furnace. There are elements of the first film here, Arnie still wears the same sort of clothes and the ending is similar in places, but this is Terminator on a bigger, grander scale with better effects and better dialogue. Not to say the previous film was bad, it's not, its just this is much, much better. If you like your explosions thick and fast, with a generous helping of weapons and special effects, this is a superb movie.
EXTRA FEATURES
One of the most impressive DVDs around for extras, this ultimate edition kicks off with an audio commentary featuring over 20 members of the cast and crew, all recorded separately and edited to fit the film. This uncovers many secrets about filming individual shots and behind the scenes, and never seems crowded. It even introduces who is speaking by form of subtitles. On disc two, there is three documentaries - The Making Of T2 (behind the scenes), T2: More Than Meets The Eye (deleted scenes) and The Making Of T2:3D (theme park attraction). The most impressive feature on the disc though, is an absolutely mammoth section devoted to every aspect of the filming process, chaptered into fifty sections, including all the deleted scenes, the entire screenplay, still images, text and photos. There are also sixty video clips including interviews, multiple angle sequences and stills that will take ages to get through. The full storybord gallery is also available, plus promotional features such as trailers and TV spots. A great package, initially sold in groovy metal boxes, but they are unfortunately all sold out.
