MARCH 2001
WHAT ID NEVER SEEN (VERSION TWO) (MUSCUTT)
Phone me more often she said she knows a happier ending
A different place where the sun can shine she was a prom queen who told all
Too childish running away too childish hiding away from me
Please sing no more for me I dont want to smile again you make me feel like I dont exist
Please sing no more for me I dont want to be me anymore you make me see what Id never seen today
Morning ride to nowhere find whats behind the door she was a princess in distress who imagined
Her life would amount to something more
What do you need to be a friend hide it in a public place twist me into shape
Please sing no more for me I dont need to smile again you make me catatonic inside
Please sing no more I cant wait to explain my actions you make me see what Id never seen today

Although this was written in March 2001, it was written a long time ago, way before that. Only thing was, I lost the original lyrics and had to re-write them for this newer version. Its about comforting a friend who thinks everything is on their shoulders and telling them its not.

SIX YEARS BETWEEN FRIENDS (MUSCUTT)

Like the days when everyone used to be closer younger when nothing would matter and daylight stayed longer
We stand on the fields we knew so well so long ago but now theyre dying like the sunlight in the autumn sky
And theres nothing we can say to stop them fading away or change the way we see things nowadays
And lately Ive seen you changing you used to be different but that was years ago
Youre changing in so many ways and in such a short time
I dont think I know you but I think about you more each day
Put your name on the line and sign away your life
What do you do to support yourself? Weve all seen you
In alleyways and dark estates doing your best to look your worst but you were so different six years ago

I was never happy with the title for this, it was originally called Six (partly after the character Number Six in the 1960s series The Prisoner). Its about the disintegration of communication between two childhood (or teenage) friends, and then them meeting up six years later, and one has become a prostitute. Not based on anyone I know, by the way.

HIGH RISE (MUSCUTT)
Are you sure well you looked so sure but that was long ago
And now were in the 21ast century and the time has come to decide for ourselves
You always told me you liked it this way so whats so wrong in living so high
Now that weve arrived you dont see much to do but want to lay down and die
And youre just lucky we saw you when we did because we dont want to lose you
You say Im always complaining about the sudden loss of oxygen
But then so are you why did you come here if not to exist?
I dont think you know why you always told me you liked it this way
So whats so wrong in living so high
Now that weve arrived you dont see much to do but want to lay down and die
And youre just lucky we saw you when we did because we dont want to lose you
And now were living in the silence of some grey afternoon
Watching static bounce off antennas and the only sound is your breathing in the dark
Youve know youve gone too far this time and I hope you realise that youre just so
Oh youre lucky we found you when we did but do you still like it like this?

This was one of the first songs I actually put music to, apparently someone reckoned the chords sounded similar to those used on Just by Radiohead, but I never saw the comparison. It uses the idea of a couple moving into a scummy tower block as their first married home because they cant get anywhere else and then realising over time that it is a pretty nasty place to live.

ANIMATIONS (MUSCUTT)
What do you see when you wake in the night time is it something that shouldnt be there?
Whats the noise you constantly hear is it your screaming when you close your eyes?
Because you know that the lies that you told so long ago will come back to haunt you
You say Im disturbed but I dont mind youre just a hallucination of mine
But theyll never believe me because theyre inside my head along with you
Im the sole survivor of the war that never happened no reflections in mirrors and a silence I cant understand
How do I operate but thats the moral of the story do I not make sense to you?
And at night they come out to play and I cant find a way to make them leave
Cant you make them leave I was away at the time thinking up my past

Originally called Cranial Animation. Like in Chemical Reaction, it is about what happens inside peoples heads.
