| STAINED PIPES (MUSCUTT) Just hold it in just hold it in hold it in until you find a better place to go Time is short yeah time is short but I cannot speak anymore to tell them In an elevator located in the corner a man and a boy are going down together Its a race against time the boys name is mine this evening Going down he tells me to keep it in keep it in But I cant keep holding back the tide interrupting the flow lets it go Over his lovely shoes his fucking lovely shoes Now hes angry and the boy is laughing in the elevating room going down Over his lovely, lovely shoes theyre lovely And now hes shouting and the boys still laughing I get a reputation for doing this kind of stuff I cant help it I never knew it was going to happen now leaning against the wall Waiting for a friend staring at Ketamine victims lying on the floor They have a job to do they have a right to know they have a right to be blown away This song is based on an occasion when a mate and me went out to this club and I got thrown out for being sick on the carpet. This huge doorman guy came over to me and took me to this lift and kept telling me to hold it in until I got outside, and we were in this lift so I decided to be sick over his shoes. He kind of threw me out the door for that. I fucking hate clubs and Im glad I soiled this particular establishments shit carpet anyway. I felt rough after that but I was laughing inside. JOSH THIRTEEN (MUSCUTT) Joshua tries to be the one he tries to have his fun but it always turns out wrong Joshua tries to be so big he tries so hard to be hip but he always fails dramatically Thirteen it was his lucky number or so he thought each day Awakened in his corner flat staring at traffic from his window Messed up hair dos a weird look in his eyes no food in the fridge it must get better Joshua works in an office block as tall as his dreams used to be Joshua works so hard on self esteem so he can be like you and me Thirteen it was his lucky number or so he thought each day Awakened in his corner flat staring at traffic from his window Messed up hair dos a weird look in his eyes no food in the fridge it must get better Joshua thinks of jacking it all in ending it all on Blackpool pier Joshua thinks for a moment about the end of his life then changes his mind Thirteen it was his lucky number or so he thought each day Awakened in his corner flat staring at traffic from his window Messed up hair dos a weird look in his eyes no food in the fridge it must get better Thirteen was never that lucky a number he thought one day in a caf Awakening in unfamiliar rooms staring at a poster of yesterday Messed up thoughts and no sex for several months Who is Josh Thirteen? Well, I expect there are lots of people who fit the description but in this song hes a chap who has basically a string of bad fortune, like his life just doesnt turn out the way he expected, despite believing in horoscopes and lucky numbers. Its quite an odd song, the title came from this pseudonym someone put after a letter theyd sent to the music discussion page on Teletext on Channel Four. THE HOLES CORPORATION (MUSCUTT) (JANUARY 2002) They charge for business on the top floor of some building in the middle of town Youve never been there except in your dreams and when we hear your screams We begin to worry about your sanity The Holes Corporation is a faade for elaborate fictions They steal your dreams in bizarre experiments then they spit you out Theyll lure you in and take all youve ever seen They have a normal receptionist but when you turn around shes not even there Youve never stepped foot in the door but you know what they do and when youre through Well wonder whether the person you are is you The Holes Corporation is a faade for elaborate fictions They steal your dreams in bizarre experiments then they spit you out Theyll lure you in and take all youve ever seen Theyve lured you in theyve taken your dreams theyve spat you onto the street Now get up from your sleep forget this never happened and if youre lucky youll land on your feet The Holes Corporation is a faade for elaborate fictions They steal your dreams in bizarre experiments then they spit you out Theyll lure you in and take all youve ever seen More fascination with tall buildings and blocks here, which is a fairly surrealist tale about a firm that kidnap people and steal their dreams for use in this huge database which creates films based on peoples dreams. I always thought that would be the best film I could ever see one made up entirely of weird dreams woven together. Itd be very, very messed up but hey, I think Id like it. SLEEPWALKING THROUGH THE DAISIES (MUSCUTT) (JANUARY 2002) Were both here for the same thing said the girl in the dark red dress So lets find a girl lets have a good time a night out under duress I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go Everything appears to be in slow motion the strobe lights cast a glint in your eyes And Ill wait here and crumble away as I wait here for you to return I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go Ive been sleepwalking says a distant voice on the phone I try to put it down and make them stop but they wont leave me alone You pay your money and you take your choice dont listen to the leering voice I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go All in all and whats said is done youd never go back there in the end The night is over on the white cliffs of Dover get back in your car and drive home I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go I stopped the feelings long ago now they return and theres nowhere left to go Theres nowhere left to go Part of this song is written about the same events as in Stained Pipes, when I went to a club and was ejected by a large gentlemen in a suit. The first part is actually based on an advert for something and the second verse is about my mate going off and leaving me in this club and then not coming back to find me. Verse three is about a strange thing that happened to me a while ago, I woke up about three in the morning convinced my phone had rang, but to this day Im not sure whether I was dreaming it. So quite a range of stuff in there. |
