Near the peak of Mt. Akagi, near lake Onuma, is a ordinary store with the obligitory useless trinkets, pricy cafe food and so on.  But just behind are 850 steps leading down to what used to be the sole source of water for one beer company, and is still the suorce of pure water for dozens of small sites in the area.
The owner of this spot explained to me in just under two hours of seamless monologue of which I understood about three percent how that area is subject to frequent vibrations caused by thunder.  The friction caused by the rocks rubbng together causes the water to carry a negative ionic charge.
And so we begin.
Finally, the springhouse is in sight.
