JAMES SPADER NOT AVAILABLE FOR POSSIBLE "STARGATE II" FEATURE?
In a recent interview with "Cinescape", Dean Devlin (together with Roland Emmerich father of Stargate, the original movie), made it clear that they'd love to do a sequel to the 1994 smash hit:

"I'm ready to make parts 2 and 3 anytime, I have the stories, it's all worked out, the actors want to do it. We just need MGM to say 'yes'. Write, call, get on their web site, get them to do it and I'll be the first one in line to do it."

Yay! A "write MGM" campaign! They will be delighted! No, seriously: there is no doubt Devlin and Emmerich are in the first line to do this project, their dislike for the TV spin-off SG-1 is known, and it would be certainly interesting to see how the two gentlemen would have continued the saga.

BUT: are the "actors who want to do it" really Kurt Russell and James Spader, the original Jack O'Neil and Daniel Jackson (who, by the way, is rumoured to be Dean Devlin's alter ego)?

DENZIE SEZ:

We talked to an insider who wishes to remain unnamed (so we won't tell you his name is Todd):

"I don't know about Kurt. But I haven't heard anything about James having plans for Stargate. Maybe he wasn't contacted yet. Would be great if he could do it, but right now, I don't think there are any agreements." As for rumours about Michael Shanks, the TV Daniel Jackson, picking up Spader's part in an Emmerich/Devlin Stargate sequel: "No way. Won't happen. And if you want to hear my honest opinion: the whole project won't happen."

Well, *if* there should be a Devlin/Emmerich SG II, we really hope for James Spader, he *was* Stargate. Otherwise it's "desperately seeking a Daniel ..."
THE VERY BUSY MR. SHANKS
If you were an actor and busy auditioning in LA, chances to bump into Michael Shanks would have been pretty big lately.

Shanks was seen at seven auditions that we know of:

1 was for an indie movie
1 was for a dramatic mini series
2 were for comedies
1 was for an adventure kinda thingy
1 was sci fi

(That's only six, yes, we know. Wait for number 7 below - deserves to be the "Wowser of a Gossip" of the month!)

Whether he got the jobs he auditioned for or not, and what the movies/series were about: we don't know for sure, and he's not telling. Usually all the information we get is: "The bloke with the eyebrows was here again!"

But let's have a looksie at some of the more substantial rumours:

The fly on the wall told us that Shanks had read the first draft of Brad Wright's possible script for the SG-1 feature movie (*if* there shouldn't be a 7th season, that is) and liked it mucho mucho ("something he can sink his teeth into" - whatever that means). Now, you never know with flies, of course, but we think this information is pretty accurate. Movie without Daniel, now, come on ... the fly also told us the plot for the SG-1 movie was a real wowser. Yay!

No way, Jos. Not only have Devlin and Emmerich a deep dislike for the TV version of Stargate, Shanks isn't exactly their biggest admirer, either. We seriously think that we'd rather see him as that cross-dressing aroma therapist than as Daniel Jackson under Devlin and Emmerich's reign ...

"Michael Shanks will star in a new adventure series"
DENZIE SEZ:

Ah, that's an interesting one. Shanks was obviously seen auditioning for a new series "with a big budget and some names". Also, despite the fact "it was early, he had panda eyes, hardly said a word and we almost didn't recognize him", he went obviously down quite well with the people in charge, one of them had even seen him on Stargate (which is not a rule, rather an exception). As for the gossip, he wouldn't play the lead, but an important supporting role. Sounds promising, so let's wait for the outcome.

Our personal favourit rumour, the
"wowser of the month" gossip:

"Michael Shanks will star in a new series in the tow of movies like "Scoobie Doo" and series like "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel".

He's going to play a teacher who turns into werewolf every full moon."
DENZIE SEZ:

HAHAHAHAHAHAH! ::sniff sniff snort::

Why, so you may ask, does this rumour get a positive rating on the Pink-O-Metre? Oh dear ... how could a rumour *that* hilarious NOT get one!!! Whoever made this one up is a genius. And if it's *not* made up - gods, wouldn't we all love to see this?!?

WOOF, INDEED!
MR. ANDERSON, SIR, NOT READY FOR THE ROCKIN' CHAIR YET
How times are a changing ... last year he talked about "semi-retirement", said season 6 would be his last and we've already seen the Gekko Charmer ride/ski/skate off into the sunset and ourselves crying a river. And now? If there's a 7th season, chances are very high he'll do it, and that's not all! Two movie projects (the Stargate movie aside) are in the stars, reason enough for Densie to meet up with some friends in Hollywood and chat through the latest news!

DENZIE SEZ:

Do we have to mention we would LOVE this rumour (which was started by Michael Pillar [Dead Zone] by some statements in an interview for filmforce) to be true? So please forgive us if we were only looking for gossip speaking *for* a possible movie! ;)

"Legend" was ahead of his time. We think that today, it would be a hit.

"Legend" has always been RDA's "favourite baby". We can imagine that he'd want to bring it on the big screen.

Talks are about a movie, not a series, so it could be shot during SG hiatus.

A witness with very sharp ears reports that indeed the "Legend" project was mentioned while John de Lancie was working on the set of Stargate.

The following statement by an insider sums it up quite nicely:

"Don't bet all your money on it, but you can risk 5 bucks!"
"Richard Dean Anderson is going to do a 'Legend' movie"
There was a big "yay!" heard from fans of the Gekko Charmer all over the galaxy when news got out there might be a "MacGyver" movie. Alas ... Richard Dean Anderson, *if* he's in it then, will only have a cameo kind of role, it is said. That's not the rumour - the rumour is the plot: the movie picks up where the series ends, and the rumour mill tells that the "new" MacGyver is supposed to be Sam, Mac's offspring. RDA would play Big Daddy MacGyver, retired.

DENZIE SEZ:

This rumour is not completely off the track, it would make sense. However ... we highly doubt that the rumoured Ben Affleck would play Sam!!! Talks go about a "7 figure" budget - well, considering Mr Affleck's paycheck, they had to cut down on the army knifes to pay him ...

And anyway. There is only one real MacGyver, basta!
