"Smashing" Sucess
While browsing the web, I noticed that every Pokemon site on the web had a help section on Super Smash Bros. Melee, even though it's not a true-blue 100% Pokemon game, except mine . . . but no longer!  Hahahahahaha! . . . sorry.  Anyway, I love this game, I'm literally addicted to it, so I decided a help section with instructions on how to unlock hidden characters, stages, and trophies would be useful since I've found that most Pokemon fans play it.  Oh, and one more thing . . .  Jigglypuff rules.

Mario
An all around character that's perfect for beginning Smash-ers.  He has no glaring weaknesses, but then again, no glaring strengths either.  His fireballs bounce wildly, making them both difficult to control and difficult to dodge and his jumping ability is . . . well, he's Mario, what do you expect!?
Dr Mario
Dr Mario is almost exacty the same as plain Mario, with the exception of a white doctor's coat.  He's a tiny bit slower than his counterpart thanks to less saving-the-world and more researching, but not enough to be glaringly obvious.  He shoots megavitamins instead of fireballs, too, and while they are a litte stronger, they're also easier to dodge.
Luigi
Luigi is a stronger jumper than his big brother - you can almost jump him of the screen in some stages! - but his traction is horrible.  He slides around the stage while you try to pound your opponent into oblivion.  On the other hand, his fireballs are much easier to control - they fly in a straight line, making life easy for you as an aimer.  The "Lean, Mean Green Machine" is actually qite a good fighter . . . despite the sliding off cliffs.
Princess Peach
One question - why does Peach insist on Mario rescuing her from Bowser when she is quite capable of doing deadly high-kicks in a long dress?  Whatever.  Peach has her own parasol which allows her to float around, as well as the ability to float horizontally across the arena.  She can use Toad as a live shield against missile attacks, and she had a wide arsenal of "weapons" most people would never think of using, among them, a frying pan, a golf club, a tennis racket, and a savage onion.
Yoshi
I like Yoshi.  He has no second jump, but his ability to Flutter-Jump well makes up for it.  He can fire eggs at enemies - which is quite entertaining - as well as swallow them and turn them into an egg!  It immobilizes his foe for a few seconds, leaving them vunerable.  Yoshi's airborne attacks are among the strongest, and he's just plain adorable.
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong is a character focused on pure strength - which I don't like, I prefer strategy, but that's fine.  His ground pounding attack causes mini-earthquakes which sends foes flying everywhere, and his ability to pick up and carry opponents is unique.  This is especially handy when you have more lives left than your opponent - he can jump off a cliff while holding them.
Captain Falcon
Captain Falcon is one character I never play as since he's so hard to control.  His attacks are based on pure brute strength and his jumping ability is awful.  On the other hand, Falcon can be useful on stages without much room to move around.
Ganondorf
Ganondorf's attacks are brutal - there's no other word for them.  His B-Button attack takes quite a while to charge, and it only really works if you can catch your opponent just standing in front of him, but it's effects are devistating.  His jumping ability is horrible, and he's painstakingly slow, but he doesn't particularily need to be fast.  This character really lives up to the title "King of Evil."
Fox McCloud
Fox is a speedy character.  He can zoom around the stage, and his Side, B-Button attack is great for sneak-attacks.  His blaster doesn't so much as make his opponent flinch (which makes me wonder how someone can not notice being hit with lasers . . .) but it's good if your opponent his coming toward him and they're out of reach.  Another character with lousy jumping ability, but again, he hardly needs it.
Falco Lombardi
Falco isn't much different from Fox except for the very important fact that his blaster lasers cause flinching - which can stop an opponent in his or her tracks.  Of course, there is the matter that Falco's a bird and Fox is, well, a fox, but that has nothing to do with statistics.  Other than that, it's purely a matter of preference.
Ness
Finally someone who can jump!  Ness can float when he jumps, and his psychic abilitys can cause . . . pain.  The problem is, with many attacks, he's immobile while he uses them.  I don't partucularily like Ness, which is good, considering I have a friend who hates him, but I suppose one could get used to the immobility.
Kirby
Kirby's great.  He can inhale his opponents and copy their B-Button abilities, and on top of that, he puts on a hat or wig that matches the victim's and immitates their voices!  I always enjoy doing that; it drives people I battle up the wall.  He has a Hammer attack that's perfect for final blows.
Samus Aran
Samus is slow, and a poor jumper, but her ability to drop little land mines on her foes can come in handy.  She can charge her gun to a point that it releases a huge ball of energy that blasts anyone nearby into oblivion.
Princess Zelda / Shiek
Zelda and/or Shiek is an interesting character (or pair of characters).  Zelda is slow, but her magical abilities are very powerful and her Side, B-Button attack is great for suprises.  She can teleport herself into the air above her opponents, and her grab attacks are strong.  Shiek, on the other hand, is quick and has airborne attacks that steal the show.  His (or her?) Needle attack is great over distance, and his chain inflicts heavy damage.
Link
Link is a character based entirely on strategy - balancing hand-to-hand swordplay with missile attacks.  He's capable of quick, unexpected attacks close up, and his bow and arrows can inflict heavy damage.  His Boomerang comes in handy when is foe is too close to take the time of drawing an arrow, and his Hookshot allows him to grab opponents who are trying to run as well as grabbing edges after being thrown.  Link's only weakness is when he's drawing his bow, but that weakness can be eliminated by drawing it while jumping.  His upward jump attack is great as a finishing blow.
Young Link
The only difference between Young Link and his older self is just that - he's younger.  His Fire Arrows pack a bit more punch than adult Link's regular ones do, but not by much.  He's faster, but not as strong with his sword.  Other than that, it's a matter of preferance.
Pichu
Pichu is more a character to be used when fighting someone using the Handicap setting - it inflicts damage on itself every time it uses it's Electric attacks.  Pichu is verrrrrrrrrrry light - a "weak" attack can send him flying into space without much difficulty.  On the upper hand, Pichu is very fast and can zoom around the stage, leaving his opponents seeing stars (and little running Pichus).
Pikachu
Being the creator of Pikachu Online, I have to say that Pikachu is a strong character.  And he is.  His Thunder packs serious punch and sends foes flying straight up into the atmosphere.  His Thundershock can hurl a little spark along a flat surface and, if standing on an edge, he can shoot little balls of electricity on a downwards slant.  He's quick and agile - just watch his Quick Attack for proof of that.
Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff's Sing attack is invaluable; it can send any opponent - ANY opponent - into a deep sleep leaving them vunerable for a serious Pounding.  Jigglypuff is most agile while floating; it can spin and flutter high above the heads of foes.  Pound is very strong and useful for that final punch.  All and all, when fighting with Jigglypuff, you can say "Sweet dreams . . ." while your opponents say "Zzzzzzzzz . . .."
Mewtwo
Let's face it: Mewtwo was never a very sweet-tempered, gentle creature.  He hates anything remotely human or anyting that serves humans, and his attacks are proof.  You can win an entire match and never move while playing as Mewtwo.  His Confusion picks up an opponent and spins him or her senseless.  Shadow Ball can be charged to major extremes, and at full power, can strike your opponent with a ball of dark energy as big as they are.  To use Disable, Mewtwo must make eye contact, but if he does, his foe is tempoarily left hurting and unable to move, which is cruel but very useful.  All and all, Mewtwo's not a happy character, but he is powerful.
Mr Game & Watch
Mr Game & Watch is . . . unique.  He can bounce opponents on a trampoline, toss sausages, and ring a cow bell as attacks.  Yes, unique.
Marth
Marth has a few powerful attacks.  His Shield Breaker does just as it sounds; it breaks an opponent's shield and leaves them dazed.  As far as the strength of his sword attacks, they're pretty much equal to Link.  He lacks when it comes to ranged attacks - he has none of note.
Roy
Roy is nearly identical to Marth in terms of strengths.  He's a different prince from the same game series.  Again, it's all purely preferance.
Ice Climbers
The Ice Climbers rely solely on teamwork - if you lose one Ice Climber, that's it for you.  They can jump by bouncing off each-other, and they can freeze opponents in ice as effectively as a Freezie item.
