9. When trainers have enough badges, they can qualify to compete in a League. There are three Leagues in the Pokemon World-The Indigo League The Johto League, and the (simply named) Pokemon League. The Indigo League requires a trainer to have all eight badges from the land of Kanto. The Johto League requires all eight badges from the land of Johto. The Pokemon League requires all eight badges from the land of Hoenn. All Leagues require trainers to battle and defeat the Elite Four and the Pokemon Champion in order to claim status of "Pokemon Master." The Elite Four are four of the best trainers in the Land of Pokemon. The Champion is the most skilled trainer of them all. The Elite Four in Kanto and Johto (see #8) are Will, Bruno, Koga and Karen. The Pokemon Champion is Lance. In Hoenn, the Elite Four are Sidney, Pheobe, Glacia, and Drake. The Pokemon Champion of Hoenn is Steven.
8. Just as Kirby games take place in Dream Land, Pokemon games take place in the lands of Kanto , Johto, and Hoenn. The three lands are completely different, Johto being more trees and forests, and Kanto having alot of cities and towns. Hoenn is a happy mix of both.Kanto is the land in which the original Pokemon Red, Yellow and Blue games were set and Johto is where the Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal games are set, and Hoenn is where the new Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games are set.
7. Usually, there are lots of the same Pokemon, there are billions of Pidgey running around. But with some Pokemon, they are one of a kind. These Pokemon are considered "Legendary". No matter how hard you search, there is only one. These Pokemon are Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Mew, Mewtwo, Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi, Latias, Latios, Groudon, Kyogre, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, and Rayquaza. Mewtwo is different from the others because it was created using the DNA of Mew, and only one was created.
6. When a Pokemon wins a battle, it gains Experience Points. Experience Points are used to measure how close your Pokemon is to gaining a level. Experience Levels measure how strong your Pokemon is and how close it is to evolving. For example, a Pokemon with 50 Experience Levels is stronger than a Pokemon with 5 Experience Levels.
5. Once a Pokemon has grown to a certain experience level, it evolves or grows into a new, stronger Pokemon. For example, when Caterpie reaches Experience Level 10, it evolves into Metapod. Most Pokemon evolve eventually. All Pokemon of the same species evolve into the same Stage 2 Pokemon. For example, a Pichu evolves into a Pikachu. All Pichu evolve into a Pikachu so no matter how hard you try, you cannot make a Pichu evolve into anything other than Pikachu. Some Pokemon also evolve when they touch a certain item. For example, in order to make a Growlithe evolve into an Arcanine, you must make Growlithe touch a Fire Stone. Some other Pokemon evolve only after being traded with another trainer via Game Boy Link Cable. Once you trade your Pokemon to a friend, that Pokemon will evolve. This works with Pokemon like Kadabra and Graveller. The last way a Pokemon can evolve is through "Friendship". Some Pokemon (especially young Pokemon) need to trust their trainer before they evolve. Pokemon like Pichu, Igglybuff, Cleffa and Togepi evolve this way.
4. A trainer can only cary 6 Pokemon with them at a time. All other Pokemon will be stored in a PC and looked after by Bill (Kanto and Johto) or Lanette (Hoenn).
3. Trainers can get their first Pokemon in one of three places. In Kanto, trainers can get their first Pokemon in Pallet Town at Professor Oak's Lab and can choose between Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Johto trainers get their first Pokemon in New Bark Town in Professor Elm's Lab and can choose between Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Chikorita. Hoenn trainers get their first Pokemon in Professor Birch's Lab in Littleroot Town and choose between Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko. Ash got Pikachu because he was late for a meeting at Professor Oak's Lab and all the other Pokemon had been taken.
2. You can NEVER catch another trainer's Pokemon. While in battle with another trainer, you cannot attempt to capture their Pokemon in a Pokeball. You can ONLY catch Pokemon that are in the wild or are given to you as a present. Shame on you if you ever attempt to catch someone else's Pokemon!
1. It's pronounced: Poe-kay-mon not: Poe-kee-mon not: Poe-kuh-man and certainly not: Poe-kee-man I mean WHAT is a Pokieman?!
Well, now that you've gotten your Pokemon Crash Course, what now?
Still frustrated? Maybe Nintendo can explain it better. Click here to link to Pokemon.com.
