I Am a Ninja

Ninjas are everywhere.  They drift in and out without a trace but leave their secretive marks everywhere they go.  They are the whisper in your ear that gives you guidance, and the reason for most of the unexplainable events of life.  Ninjas are swift, powerful, and disciplined, yet they are seemingly the best kept secret of the modern world.  Although you do not know it, I am an active member of this secret society.  I am one of the elite, the strong, and the stealthy.  I am a ninja.

One of the tell tale signs of a true ninja is their method of movement.  A ninja will never stumble, trip, or make any movements that are less than the perfectly precise.  I possess the ability to carry myself in such a way as to mimic the natural and apparently effortless but efficient actions of a choreographed dance.  Floating, not walking is my means of transport.  No one even knows I am there.  I can crouch so low to the ground as I furtively move in an impossible balancing act that it could be achieved by no other than a ninja.  Many times a day people will allude to my sneakiness with questions such as, “Where the hell did you come from?” and “Wow, how long have you been standing there?”  I can only respond to these with answers that cover up my secret identity, as hard as it may be.  It is quite obvious from my actions, that I hold the gift of ninja movement.

Along with the superb abilities of a ninja must be combined with the capability to control one’s self through an expert level of discipline.  The first rule about being a ninja is you don’t talk about being a ninja.  I follow this rule to the greatest extent.  Although sometimes it is hard to contain, I will never reveal my identity as a ninja besides this single work of literature which is important to my English grade.  The second rule of being a ninja is to know when to harness your power.  I never get out of hand especially in public.  I have, and always will keep my cool and will not use my compilation of skills in any way that is excessive or inappropriate.  The third and most important rule of being a ninja is that a ninja must know when to take a life, and when to spare a life.  This is always a hard decision.  Many times I have had my hand in full ninja chop formation at a foes neck, but have decided to spare them for the time being.  Even though most people will never know how close they came to death, they seem grateful for my expedient decision.  In one instance I was poised to kill an enemy ninja, Caroline, but opted to let her be.  Being a ninja she knew the situation, and complimented me on my discipline with a few simple words.  “Joseph, thank you for not killing me, you showed great self control.”  I abide very strictly to the code of the ninja.

The greatest aspect of being a ninja is that no one can prove otherwise.  Due to the secretive nature of ninjas, the argument never comes up in the first place, but when it does in instances such as this, there is no evidence to say that I in fact am not a ninja.  No one besides other ninjas know of the ninja ways, and other members of our organization will never speak out or against another ninja.  To everyone else, I am just a common school child who does his work, goes to class, and carries out all the normal steps of everyday life.  Everything that makes me a ninja is ironically everything that no one will ever know about.  Due to the lack of evidence and understanding of ninja culture, there is no logical argument against my ninja lifestyle.

I am the quick, the sly, the voice you hear in your dreams.  I come and go as a please without notice for reasons of my own.  At any moment I could be behind, waiting, watching, and hunting.  There is no way to tell if your life is close to an end, or if you are one of the lucky targets that are saved by my remarkable discipline.  You can neither prove nor disprove my very existence.  I am an omnipotent yet controlled power.  I am a ninja.
