Most breeds began their shows on Monday morning, they did each breed in separate areas.
Judging for Mini Lops started at 8:00 am on Monday. They had "runners" bringing the rabbits to the show coops to be judged. Open class Mini Lops had 3 judges Dr. Steve Roush, Joe Lugo, and Jeff Jewett, they each took a class such as solid junior bucks or solid senior bucks, etc. The judge then would look at the rabbits and send the "no places" back to their cages. Some classes had numbers as high as 90 so not all rabbits could be placed, they only kept back the top 20, then after going over them again until only 12 rabbits remained.. Those top 12 were weighed and then placed into places #12 through #1. Finally the top 8 rabbits (4 Brokens and 4 Solids) were used to place the "Best of Breed." Each of the 3 judges checked over those 8 rabbits and placed a written vote to see who would win. Kim Haferman, Prior Lake, MN won BOB with a solid senior doe, this was a great win considering the fact that this rabbit was the best out of 669 Mini Lops! . It was nearly 6:00 pm when the judging finished. |
